The CPU TERMINAL board PSO000227000 constitutes the operator interface for programming and
control of the machine. Its operation is based on a 32-bit microprocessor interfaced with the CAN BUS
system toward the electric cabinet and other accessories. This microprocessor, provided with 4 MBytes
of Flash memory, 2 MByte of static RAM memory and 128 KByte of EPROM memory and a controller
for the display, provides for management of a membrane keyboard with 38 keys, a VGA back-lighted
monochromatic display, a memory-card with 1 MByte of memory, a Real Time Clock, two RS232
serial lines, an RS485 serial line and the CAN BUS line.
The first serial line RS232 is used to interface with the data acquisition systems (Barco, Omega Center,
etc).
The second RS232 serial line can be used to interface with portable programmers such as the NPT200
and the Staubli 1858/1859.The RS 485 serial line is not yet used, but is available for future developments.
The Memory-Card, which is inserted in the special slot, can be used to save the pattern/colour
ratio or the machine set up data: the software can be transferred and programmed with a special version
of the memory-card, or access granted to special functions reserved for qualified personnel.
The CPU TERMINAL is equipped with two fuses F1 and F2 that protect the board in case of a short
circuit on the internal power supplies.
There is a switch (SW1) located near the battery (BT1) that can be used to switch the battery on to buffer
the data in the memory. This switch, in order to prevent unwanted data loss, should be left "ON".
When a board is supplied separately as a spare, this switch is OFF in order to save the battery charge:
before it can become operational, the switch must be closed (in the "ON" position).
The board is also provided with a potentiometer named (LUM) to adjust display brightness. This potentiometer
is adjusted by SMIT at works. Adjustment of this trimmer may be required only if the display is
replaced.
The CPU TERMINAL board PSO000227000 is installed inside the keyboard supporting panel on the
stand located in the lower left section of the machine (fig 10a). On the left of the keyboard support panel
there is a circular connector for the portable programmer, marked PROGRAMMER, a circular connector
for the strobe lamp marked STROBOSCOPE and the door for the memory-card labelled as
memory-card.
At the bottom of the keyboard support panel, in addition to the screws that fasten the keyboard and the
grounding screw, there are 6 9-way tub connectors for connection of the remote terminal (fig. 10b).
These connectors are marked as follows:
P.SUPPLY: connector for remote terminal power supply;
OPTIONAL P: serial line connector RS485 (currently not in use);
SERIAL P: data acquisition serial line connector;
TERMINAL: CAN BUS line connector to electric cabinet;
CAN BUS: CAN BUS line connector to optional devices;
STROBOSCOPE: connector for interfacing strobe lamp with electric cabinet.
